Women X Programme Launch Recap 🌸
Getting excited for the festival in style 🍿
We kicked off our 2025 edition in style at our festival venue at the Darlington Hippodrome and wow, what a morning it was!
Our attendees got the very first look at this year’s festival trailer, followed by a deep dive into each strand and the thought process behind the film selections carefully curated by the programming team.
It was a joy to welcome back some of our festival alumni, including Charlotte Fenton, Jo Lane and Misha McCullagh, who joined us for some words as they are all excitingly returning this year with brand new films!
A huge shoutout to our friends and festival partners Yourfilm, who not only joined us on the day but also launched their exciting new film competition for young filmmakers in the North! More information on that here.
We were also joined by some of this year’s filmmakers and script competition finalists as well as film lovers and creatives passionate about women and non-binary led films. It was lovely to be joined by likeminded and supportive organisations such as In the Frame, Queers of the North East, Darling Magazine, GASP! Film Festival, Northern School of Art, Young Women’s Film Academy, RadgeMag, Rainbow Screen, Nana Peg Productions, Shorties and the Sunderland Shorts Film Festival.
Missed the launch? Don’t worry, we have plenty coming your way. Stay tuned for strand highlights, sneak peaks and the countdown to the 2025 edition of Women X.
Head to our website today to purchase your pass and check out the schedule, which we’ve also popped below!

Also if you’re based in the North East and aged 13 - 20 you should join our Youth Jury! Feel free to hit reply to get involved, or forward on to somebody you know in that age range who you think would like to be part of it! 🏆
