Women X-Mas 🎄

Hi RPeapod,

As Christmas approaches our team always get a little bit overstimulated with the pressure of ‘WE SHOULD BE DOING SOMETHING’ which is a similar feeling we get as we approach International Women’s Day every year (but that’s another newsletter, and another announcement…)

So rather than a rushed Christmas drinks, or an expensive Christmas meal where everyone will have to battle with winter public transport, the dreaded wardrobe deep dive of finding something with sparkles on it and the overdraft balances because you got roped into an expensive Secret Santa, we wanted to do something a little different.

This year we wanted to bring back something really simple and genuinely lovely… the joy of getting a Christmas card in the post.

Across the year we saw not just at our festival but others, how the return to the analog was around us. Digital cameras, scrapbooks, homemade videos, people asking for physical tickets to keep as memorabilia, and even when we’re online we’re seeing less in the moment stories and more reflective photo dumps.

So we’re taking a slower, reflective, nostalgic and more exciting (well in our eyes) approach to Christmas across Rianne Pictures this year, and we would love you to be a part of it.

We’re launching Women X-Mas: 100 Cards of Joy, where we’ll be sending 100 Christmas cards out to our filmmakers, audiences, industry friends and anyone in our wider Rianne Pictures community.

You don’t have to be an alum or have screened with us, if you’re part of the Rpeapod in any way, we’d love to send you some festive joy.

So hit reply to this email, with your address and we’ll add you to our list, as we work our way through hand writing those cards and popping them in our post boxes. (We can only send within the UK this year due to postage costs — small business life! Sorry about that.)

Many of you filmmakers would have shared your addresses on FilmFreeway when you submitted films, but people move and life happens. So if you’d like to be included in 100 Cards of Joy, just reply with your current UK address and we’ll add you to the list.

If we reach the full 100 cards target, we’ll also be donating £100 to charity, which feels like the perfect way to round off the year and include you all as part of the magic.

We’ll be sharing our progress on socials too, so follow along and see if we reach 100!

Women X-Mas may look a little different from 2026, we might win the lottery and actually treat you all to a roast dinner, but until then for this year we’re keeping things heartfelt and hope to be in your postbox as well as your inbox soon.
