Women X Fest is Back ✨

Time to leave the party...

Well hello, how’s it been?

While we know you’re busy this month planning on whether you’re seeing Barbie then Oppenheimer, or Oppenheimer than Barbie, we thought we’d drop in your inbox as it’s about to get pretty crazy with some Women X news.

We’ve got the programme of films to announce, our guest speakers, our awards nominations, our writers afternoon retreat, our 2000’s bonkers quiz night, our partners - it’s going to be a lot of info…

So we thought we’d give you a chance to step back from the party if you’re no longer interested in attending Women X or knowing what’s happening over at Team RP before we drop some weekly doses of news and fun.

Just hit the unsubscribe button and we’ll see you in another life xo

If you are sticking around, here’s 5 things we’ve learnt from our programming this year

💔 Everyone had their heart broken last year, the amount of broken relationships and heartbreak stories we received was huge.

🧙🏻‍♀️ Big year for witches and folklore, 14% of submissions so.

⏱ Length of films went up! The average film length we received this year was 14 minutes! Which made cutting films even harder!

📺 Every year we have received a submission with a cast member from Coronation Street

👶🏼 Motherhood is a huge conversation piece, so many stories on the nuances and difficulties of identity post partum 30% so, we could probably create a whole Motherhood festival….no wait, we shouldn’t, could we? STOP!

Also over at Evolve… 🌱

Maggie, who has been with us on our third cohort, had her third draft of AMONGST FRIENDS read with a small group and it was brilliant to hear her words come to life and allow her to sit back and just soak in the journey, rather than reading and editing - as many of us writers do.

Table reads can be so powerful, but often hard to put together. But having a friend read over lines with you particularly if you’re struggling with dialogue can really help you spot the gaps where you may be struggling, or even whacking out the voice memos app on your phone.

If you are sticking around with us, we’d love you to hit reply and tell us one thing you HATE about networking, we’re building our sessions for this year's fest and your feedback is always valuable. (Which is why we don’t serve booze anymore…more on that later!)

Love,

(a very tired) Team RP x
