We’re officially in the three week countdown until Women X Film Festival 2025, and we’re buzzing to welcome you back (or with us for the first time) for another weekend celebrating women and non-binary filmmakers from across the globe! ✨

This week, we’re putting the spotlight on six unmissable screenings that we know you’ll fall in love with. From powerful dramas to unexpected joy, these films are the heart of this year’s festival:

We’ve become well known for our screenings on Motherhood, even programming a special edition for Aesthetica Film Festival in 2023, this year we took a pivot and curated Circle Of Life which takes us from conception, to pregnancy, to birth, to loss and beyond. Featuring a gorgeous mix of shorts:

As we mentioned last week for 2025 we DOUBLED our screenings and were able to programme more short films than ever. So there’s more new at the festival than ever before, following our first ever solid documentary screening we have TWO doc centric screenings for you this year. (With lots more peppered throughout the programme)

Our two documentary heavy screenings And It’s Personal which is a raw and at times uncomfortable mixture of real stories from Austria, Spain, USA and right here in the UK. Handcrafted is our first ever crafting screening, and will also be relaxed so fully subtitled and with the lights and sound dimmed, ideal for your to enjoy the film and enjoy some simply crafts in your lap!

You know we love a mixed bag at Women X, blending fictions with docs and also genres across our screenings, so you’ll expect a blend of comedy and drama in Best Friends For Now which celebrates friendship in all its messy, magical glory. Acknowledging that often, it’s not forever. Pillow Talk, Raw, honest explorations of intimacy and attraction.

And then you have our wonderfully weird annual comedy screening Mistakes Were Made, LOL moments tangled up in everyday problems, and bizarre dilemmas

When you’re not enjoying a screening or eyes down on a craft with your hands, we’ve got some exciting evenings planned for you to connect with new friends, or simply enjoy a bit of entertainment by yourself. Women X is for both the extroverts and introverts after all!

Friday, 19th September: At 6:00 PM we host our WFTV Opening Night Drinks, a relaxed opportunity for you and your guests to meet fellow creatives and kick off the festival together.

Saturday, 20th September:At 8:00 PM, join us for our Festival Quiz a (very) fun, relaxed night to test your trivia, meet new people, take part in the silly and win prizes. 90’s themed for this year.

Sunday, 21st September: At 5:00 PM we invite you to Awards Reception Drinks before our Awards Ceremony at 6:15 PM. After the ceremony, we’ll celebrate with post-awards drinks and pizzas to close the festival in style.
