Rianne Pictures: Your monthly roundup is here 🎬

TAPE Collective Screenings, Aluna Labs Deadlines and a FREE script session!

Hello RPeapod!

The weather has been awful, AI screenings are taking up space in beloved cinemas and we’ve got politicians begging on our doorsteps, what a wonderful month of June we all expected.

Alas, there’s some exciting bits and bobs happening across our film community to cheer up those grey skies and manifesto lies.

DRYLONGSO

🎟 TAPE Collective: DRYLONGSO
As part of their exciting SNAPSHOT series our friends at TAPE Collective are hosting a screening of the 1998 Cauleen Smith film DRYLONGSO. A young woman in a photography class begins taking pictures of black men out of fear they will soon be extinct. Tuesday 25th June 4pm at Prince Charles Cinema, tickets available here.

🎬 Women X Film Festival Youth Jury Applications – OPEN
We are excited to announce that applications are open for our Festival Youth Jury for film enthusiasts aged under 22 and based in the North East. This is a great opportunity for young film lovers and budding filmmakers to engage with the cinematic world, judge films, and gain hands-on experience in the festival circuit. Email [email protected] or hit reply to this newsletter for more information for yourself, or a young person in your care.

🎂 Sunderland Shorts Submissions – 10th Edition
Calling all filmmakers! Submissions are now open for the 10th edition of Sunderland Shorts. The North East based festival celebrates short films from around the globe and provides a platform for emerging and established filmmakers alike. They’re good friends of ours and we’re so excited to see what they bring to their 10th anniversary edition. Submit via Filmfreeway.

FIGHT ME

🥊 Sarah Grant's Fight Me Film Fundraiser – Final 2 Weeks
Lastly, we are calling on our community to support Sarah Grant's Fight Me film fundraiser. Sarah won Best Film at the 2023 festival with her short CANDY. With only two weeks left, every contribution helps bring her debut feature film to life. Additionally, there will be a special screening in Glasgow next week showcasing some of the best female and gender non confirming talent from the city. More information on both the fundraiser and the screening on the Kickstarter page.

Excitingly our final programme for the 2024 festival is 80% completed, plus we have some really cool partnerships lined up this year and a big new addition to the film programme which we can’t wait to share with you.

Love,

Team RP xo
