Our Free Script Feedback Returns đź‘€

Rianne Reads Returns and Women X 2025 is open for business

Hello RPeaPod, if you’ve got a script collecting dust on your desktop it is tiiiiiiiime 🍿

Rianne Reads Returns đź–Š

Yes that’s right, our free script reading and feedback scheme is back! 30 writers will receive one page of actionable feedback on their scripts from us, no strings, no watch this zoom and then we tell you that paying us £50 a month will lead to a better mindset, or a pyramid scheme where you pay £20 a month to be part of a networking group if you invite all your other filmmaking friends, free - of - charge.

It’s our way of giving back, and has led to some really exciting projects moving into production, including Goodbye Train which screened at Women X this year and some scripts moving into production and development into features.

We set up Rianne Reads as one of the biggest reasons we found that short films weren’t getting through the initial stages of programming at Women X was due to poor writing, lack of structure, plot holes, poorly development characters - essentially story is and always will be the reason whether your short is successful or not.

Full criteria and submission form is here and you’ve got until November 30th to submit, it’s a lottery system so the scripts are chosen at random, so don’t fret if you haven’t wrote anything yet! With this not being a competition, it’s not about submitting your best work, it is about getting realistic and un-bias feedback on your actual work.

Goodbye Train (She’s getting ready for another LNER delay)

Women X 2025 Submissions 🎬

We are officially OPEN for submissions, and they are certainly flying in already. With an extended runtime this year we’re excited to see what you’ve all been up to! Just a reminder that we do not grant waivers for free entry, all filmmakers are treated fair and equal as part of our programming process.

Ssssh. If you do have a feature film made since 2023 you feel would be a great addition to Women X 2025, you can get in touch as we are accepting expressions of interest for feature films under 2 hours. Sssssh.

Last month we popped out a call for volunteers for our submissions previewing, thanks to everyone who got in touch, we’ve got a long list and will be emailing out more information by the end of the year.

Bits & Bobs 🎬
