Mid-month hello from RP!

It's been a little while. How are you?

Hi, everyone. It's been a while, hasn't it?

So, what's been going on since we last popped up in your inboxes? Well (deep breath), Rianne Reads had its first script-reading window, which meant we were able to read over 80 scripts and give each of their writers next steps.

We've also been busy screening a collection of films at BFI Southbank as part of the Woman With A Movie Camera Summit, launching a brand new podcast and preparing for Women X 2023, but more on that later…

In other news, we ventured to the north west for a coffee morning at Manchester Film Festival. It was great to meet, share ideas, and eat pastries with so many of you, and we hope to make this event the first of many around the country!

The third cohort of our development programme RP: Evolve has also recently kicked off, which will see us provide more workshops, mentoring sessions, and script reviews for a new group of filmmakers.

And, finally, speaking of development.. We're in the midst of planning a development summit for our team to get together – in person! What a concept! – and start to get the ball rolling on some very exciting plans that we can't wait to share with you further down the line.

Women X 2023 updates 📽️

  • Our final submissions deadline is coming up! May 18 is your last chance to submit a short film to us for the 2023 edition of the festival.

  • We’ve booked our venues – we're back at the Darlington Hippodrome and the Mercure Darlington Kings Hotel for three days of festival fun this year

  • Plus, we’ll have two screening rooms this time around, which means more films and events – and gives you a choice of things to do!

  • Also, we have some very exciting partnership announcements

  • We're thrilled that TAPE Collective will be curating a guest programme for the festival!

  • Plus, Cinephile is sponsoring our 'mini movie makers' event, AKA our programme and activity session for children.

  • We’re also toying around with a new idea that will be launching in May, which rhymes with Mipt Mompetition….

What's new on our podcasts? 🎧

  • We've only gone and launched a whole new podcast. Meet Pop Culternatives, and get ready to dive into a pop culture rabbithole of 'what if?'s with Caris and Lauren. All episodes are available now to get stuck into on your favourite podcast platform (but here’s a link for Spotify to get you started).

  • Over on the Women X Film Festival Podcast, Emily spoke to director Shamim Sarif about her new film Polarized, which screened at BFI Flare last month, while Caris and Ashton shared their tips for a successful festival campaign.

  • We're also saying goodbye to Not Having It All after 5 years and over 100 episodes. It's been a lot of fun, but we're moving our sights to other projects.
