We're overjoyed to announce that Chickenshit has been longlisted for a British Independent Film Award (BIFA). Congratulations to the entire team (Dir Ellie Rogers) for this well-deserved recognition and best of luck for the nominations news.

SMILE Wins at BAFTA Cymru 🌸
A huge round of applause for the Smile team, who have taken home a BAFTA Cymru award for Best Short Film. This is a huge accomplishment to the talent and dedication of everyone involved (Dir Jo Smyth, Prod Katy Mendo), we loved screening the film at Women X.

BACK OF THE NET Wins Best Screenplay 🌸
Back of the Net snagged the Best Screenplay award at the Healdsburg Short Film Festival, judged by Tom Waits. Congratulations to the team (Dir Klara Kaliger, Wri Ella Dorman-Gajic, Prod Athanasia Bartzoka, Ola Andrzejewska) for crafting such a lovely story which our Youth Jury loved.

SLEEPYHEAD at Leeds International Film Festival 🌸
We're excited to see that Sleepyhead will be screening at the Leeds International Film Festival. Don't miss the chance to see this fantastic film which picked up not one, but two awards at Women X this year. (Dir Milly Garnier, Wri Charlotte Paradise, Prod Millie Marsh)

Aesthetica Film Festival screenings 🌸

Wow what a selection, so many Women X films screening in York next month, including Big Moves, Does That Make Me A Woman, Opening Up, Gobstopper, Wild Animal, Spoor, Safe.

Rianne Reads Returns 🖊

Great news for writers! Rianne Reads will be making a comeback next month. We will be offering free feedback from our development team on 30 scripts . This opportunity is open to all women and gender non-conforming filmmakers with a short film script under 15 minutes, where you’ll receive one page of feedback and action steps. It’s our way of giving back, and has led to some really exciting projects moving into production, including Goodbye Train which screened at Women X this year!

Women X 2025 Submissions 🎬

Submissions for Women X 2025 are soon to open from October 30th on Filmfreeway! We’re also very excited that after much discussion in our programming team, we've extended our criteria so short film submissions can now have a run time of up to 40 minutes for our 6th edition. We can’t wait to see what amazing shorts are out there for our next edition.

Call for Volunteers 🎞

....And as we prepare for those shorts, we are looking to expand our previewing and programming team. If you're interested in becoming a submissions previewer, which includes free training and opportunities to grow to our junior programming team, just get in touch for more info & to join the list.
