Cards, Scripts & Christmas Films 📮

Team Favourites, 2026 plans and 100 Cards of Joy 🎄

Hello RPeaPod!

[FYI - That’s the name of the newsletter community, not a glitch on your name, as some people assumed this year] 🤭

This Christmas, we set ourselves a little silly challange of sending out 100 Christmas Cards of joy! At first, we thought it would just be a small, simple thing a way to reach a few people with a little kindness at this busy time of year.

But the response completely overwhelmed us in the best possible way! So many of you reached out, asking for a card, sharing how much even the idea of it meant to you. It reminded us, in the softest but strongest way, that people are craving real connection. Not the performative kind, not the social media version, but a return to the essence of being part of somebodies christmas card list.

To be completely honest, it’s shown us again (!!!) that real community isn’t about trends or aesthetics. It’s built on the small acts of care we choose to offer, the handwritten note, the thoughtful gesture, the moments where we show up for each other, even when no one else is watching. And sometimes, it’s these quiet, unassuming things that have the biggest impact.

People talk alot about having a village, where is my village, why do I not have a village, but little is often said about how to be a villager, how to be there for eachother, selflessly, dedicated to ensuring that even when we’re not benefitting from something directly, others in our community are, and when one of succeeds, in a way we all do.

Anyway all that talk put to the side, along with my suspected carpal tunnel from writing out all of these cards, If you’ve been thinking about taking part in the Cards of Joy, there are still a dozen or so left and if we hit our goal of 100 cards we are donating £100 to charity. Even better, a few organisations have offered to match donations, so your card could make TRIPLE the difference. So hit reply with your address to get one of the last remaining ones!

On other RP things, Evolvember went brilliantly! We had such an amazing cohort of lovely writers all working on different stories and projects, some of them even used the time to show up and complete funding applications and development queries for feature length versions, so we are already planning another online cohort for February, with an option this time for feedback on your scripts WHICH is ideal if you’re thinking about entering our Women X script competition this year. We definitely love our script entries just as much as our films, and we can’t wait to see more stories coming through.

We’ve also started watching through the 2026 Women X submissions, and it’s been such a joy seeing all the incredible stories coming through, it’s our first year for features and we can’t wait to huddle together in our screening room to see what we have in our net!

And our recent volunteering advert? The response has been CRAZY, It really feels like our little team is growing, allowing some of those long serving volunteers to develop into new areas they want to lead up…. Abbie is holding me to ACCOUNT that the podcasts are coming back, so they are now safely in her hands and soon to be in your ears!

We also may have something in the works for March for those of you in the North East, but I’m not allowed to say anything for now, mainly because I have no idea what it is yet because the team are convinced I’ll leak something, I am the Tom Holland of RP.

So this isn’t meant to be the last newsletter of 2025. But let’s be honest, I might forget to send another one… so if I do, see you in 2026!

Last but not least, if you’re wanting some Christmas recommendations this year I asked the team to share their favourites, so here goes!
